ALL I WANT

All I want
Is to share pizza with you
This afternoon
And cans of cold, cold Coke.

This afternoon makes us dry,
Makes me empty,
And lonely as a desert.
C'mon, my treat.

Why do I have this feeling
That I have to bribe you for this?
All I want is we talk,
Buddy talk, share dreams
Just like we use to
For I cannot ask for
Constant company.

Deserts are always lonely,
People come and leave,
Or simply stay out of them.
When we talk, we dream
While we take slices
From our communal pizza
To our fullness.

Dreams are water to desserts
Bursting forth into life,
Are pastel streaks to paper-plain sky
And dry rocks, leaving vivid marks.

After we finish,
We part full.
That's company enough
